About us
Sometimes a wedding day feels like so much more than a wedding day. Maddie and Michael’s wedding was one of those days. When Maddie’s mom shared their sneak peek photos on Facebook the Monday after the wedding alongside a quote about picking up the pieces, starting again, and having faith in God, I honestly had one of the strongest emotional reactions I’ve ever had to a quote. If you know Maddie and Michael, you know that the road to this day wasn’t necessarily the easiest. There were twists, turns, and moments when they had to pick up the pieces and begin again. But through it all, they found their way to a new kind of happiness together—and goodness, what a beautiful thing that is. God is so good, and their wedding day felt like such a sweet celebration of that.
Maddie and Michael’s wedding ceremony was a beautiful Catholic Mass at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Knoxville. The entire ceremony was incredibly meaningful, but one of my favorite moments happened during the sign of peace. Instead of simply turning to each other and the people immediately around them, Maddie and Michael stepped down from the altar and hugged every single family member sitting in the front row before returning to their place. It was such a simple gesture, but it said so much about the people they are and the importance of their families in their lives. There were plenty of happy tears throughout the day, but moments like this one are exactly why we love photographing weddings—the little pieces of a day that tell the biggest parts of the story.
And then… it was time to party! Their reception at Cherokee Country Club was basically the definition of a Knoxville summer garden party. The back lawn was transformed into the most gorgeous, whimsical garden setting, with the Tennessee River providing the prettiest backdrop imaginable. Guests enjoyed delicious food, drinks, and plenty of time catching up with one another while soaking in the beautiful evening. Honestly, could it get any better? Well, yes. Because Maddie and Michael had an espresso martini as one of their signature drinks, and if you know us, you know that immediately earned bonus points in our book.
Once the dancing started, the party really came alive. Maddie and Michael had custom trucker hats ready to use as dance floor props, and you better believe I wore one for basically the entire night! Their reception was full of the kind of joy that is impossible not to join in on. And that really is the best way to describe Maddie and Michael: joyful. They have this incredibly special way of making the people around them feel happy just by being themselves, and it was so obvious throughout their entire wedding day. From the emotional moments at the church to laughing with their favorite people on the dance floor, every part of the day felt completely and authentically them.
Maddie and Michael, we are just so, so happy for you two. Your wedding day was beautiful, but what made it truly special was knowing the journey that brought you there. You never stopped believing that something beautiful could be waiting on the other side of the hard parts, and your wedding day felt like the sweetest reminder that sometimes the best chapters are the ones we have to work a little harder to find. We are so obsessed with you as a couple, so honored that we got to document this incredible day, and SO excited for everything ahead. Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Saporito! We love you guys!
