Some wedding days are just plain fun from beginning to end, and Olivia and Matt’s RT Lodge wedding was exactly that. We had been looking forward to this one for a long time, and spending the day with these two at one of our favorite East Tennessee wedding venues outside of Knoxville did not disappoint. RT Lodge really does feel like adult camp in the best possible way — everyone stays on-site, eats meals together, hangs out, and gets to spend an entire weekend celebrating with the people they love. Add in beautiful surroundings, incredible food, and a couple as fun-loving as Olivia and Matt, and you have a pretty perfect wedding weekend.

For Olivia, this day was a very long time coming. She has dreamed about being a bride since she was little — the kind of little girl who pretended to be a bride on the regular. She even made her cousin be her groom over and over again until he finally reached his limit and started saying, “I don’t want to marry you again!” Thankfully, Olivia eventually found a groom who was happy to marry her not just once, but every day for the rest of their lives. And after spending a full day with these two, it’s easy to see why. Matt and Olivia are so perfectly suited for one another, and the way they laugh together, love each other, and genuinely enjoy being around one another is the sweetest thing.

One of the things that made their wedding day especially meaningful was the way Olivia and Matt made space for the people who couldn’t physically be there. Olivia’s brother, Braeden, was remembered in so many intentional ways throughout the day. A chair at the ceremony held his suit jacket and favorite boots, photos of him were included on pins in Olivia’s bouquet and on the lapel of Matt’s jacket, and his name and stories naturally came up throughout the ceremony, speeches, and conversations with family and friends. His presence never felt like a sad footnote to the day — instead, it felt like another reminder of just how deeply loved he is. Although Braeden couldn’t be there physically, I couldn’t help but feel like he was all around Olivia and Matt, giving them the biggest hug throughout the entire day.

And speaking of the people they love… WOW. I’ve always said that the people you surround yourself with say a lot about you, and if that’s true, Olivia and Matt might just be the most fun-loving couple on the planet. Their wedding party was an absolute blast, and both Chris and I had such a fun time being around them all. Olivia, Matt, and their entire wedding party welcomed us with open arms, and there was no shortage of laughter, ridiculousness, happy tears, and PLENTY of dancing. By the end of the night, we weren’t just getting hugs from the bride and groom — members of the wedding party were hugging us goodbye, too. That kind of warmth says a lot about the people Olivia and Matt have surrounded themselves with.

Ultimately, that’s what we’ll remember most about Olivia and Matt’s RT Lodge wedding: the people. The people who have loved them through every season, the people who showed up to celebrate them, the people who made them laugh until their cheeks hurt, and the people who made sure Braeden was part of the day, too. It was joyful, meaningful, emotional, and so completely them. We feel incredibly lucky to have been there to document it all, and as East TN wedding photographers, we couldn’t have asked for a better couple or a better group of people to spend the day with. Olivia and Matt, we’re so happy for you both.
